N.E.H.C. WESTERN / REINING SEAT CLINIC Before this year’s horse show season began, western riders had the opportunity to sharpen their riding skills. On Saturday, April 5, 2008 sixteen riders participated in a Western Riding Clinic. The event, which was for beginners to advanced riders, was held at Janna Flynn’s Lanes End Farm in Danvers, MA and sponsored by the N.E.H.C. Western / Reining Seat Medal Finals Committee. N.E.H.C. judges Kathleen Keefe, Camille Pepin, and JoAnn Hamson donated their time and knowledge to the riders as they instructed them on the fine points of showmanship, and western equitation patterns. Riders who participated were: Marisa Ahola, Margaret Ardman, Rebecca Ardman, Paige Benson, Liz Boris, Elizabeth Fagan, Jessica Hayes, Rachel Lovett, Marie Pelletier, Jessica Petersen, Alex Reppucci, Janice Reppucci, Cathy Shanahan, Amanda Soffron, Jenny Sullivan, and Olivia Terranova. Each one of the riders was given a certificate at the conclusion of the daylong session. The clinic was held as a fundraiser to benefit the N.E.H.C. Western / Reining Seat Medal Finals that will be held in September at the Eastern States Exhibition ( BIG E ) in West Springfield, MA. The Western / Reining Seat Committee members are Marilyn Childs, Kathleen Keefe, Lorene Pirello, Camille W. Pepin, Jim Mullaly, Ginny Kavanagh, and Anne Messina. Members of the subcommittee for fundraising are Judy Soffron and JoAnn Hamson. The clinic was a great success and the Committee plans on making this an annual event.
