VHC Mission Statement
From the 1975 Articles of Association
  • To promote and protect the interest of all Vermont horsemen and horsewomen.
  • To provide information on the Vermont horse industry, laws and regulations affecting it, and on other related subjects.
  • To be a means of communication between all horsemen and to provide information to the general public.
  • To map, mark, and develop interconnecting riding trails throughout the state of Vermont.
  • To encourage horsemen to respect public and private property rights.
  • To take such action as the general membership directs.


VHC goals and Objectives for 2007
and beyond

Ø Evaluate and Unite the numerous trail coalitions to become one voice.
Ø Work with the State of Vermont for more interconnecting trails/Groton State Park
Ø Design a workshop for bike riders, horseback riders, and ATV users to support a safe environment for shared trails and roads
Ø Equine Road Safety Wording in the Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Driver's Manuals
Ø Equine Road Safety Public Announcements on the Radio
Ø Promote May Equine Road Safety Month with a Montpelier Parade
Ø Work with Vermont Equine Industry Committee to establish a legislative voice in Montpelier
Ø Across The Fence Program
Ø Offer Horsemanship Clinics
Ø Organize a Parade Group
Ø Locate and Apply for grants for promotion
